Kensington Village has a solid history and reputation for providing quality care for Seniors in London and surrounding areas. It is locally owned and operated by the Schlegel families.
We are a 139 bed retirement community for seniors. Our trained staff is available for providing 24-hour supervision and assisting residents who may need help with bathing, medication, meals, laundry, housekeeping, and social activities. The Retirement Home has also earned three consecutive Standards Certifications from the Ontario Retirement Communities Association, a professional provincial organization dedicated to quality residential care standards.
Three levels of care within the retirement community provide needed supports while encouraging independence and participation.
Independent Living: Each resident receives a full meal program, activation, housekeeping and maintenance services. There is twenty four hour coverage by Registered Practical Nurses for medication assistance and health monitoring purposes. Nurse aides assist with a weekly therapeutic tub bath, if desired, and assist in the dining rooms, with linen changes, etc. Laundering of bedding and towels, provided by Kensington, is also included. Coin operated facilities are located throughout the building for resident's personal laundry. Most suites include a three piece ensuite bathroom (with shower) and a kitchenette featuring a bar sink and fridge. Residents furnish their own suites, but a bed & bedside table is available as desired.
Supportive Living: An additional 1/2 hour per day of nursing assistance per resident as well as all Independent Living services is provided in this neighbourhood. This allows us to accomodate residents who need extra help with mobility, continence and other activities of daily living. It can also be used for those who require more complex nursing care such as complex dressings and frequent blood glucose monitioring. An additional weekly therapeutic bath is also provided. The suites in this area have a two piece ensuite bathroom (toilet and sink).
Early Memory Loss Neighbourhood: (SECURE LIVING) An additional 1/2 hour of nursing assistance as well as all Independent Living services is in place for this neighborhood. However, the focus is on providing security and support for early to mid dementia residents. Programming and cueing for all Activities of Daily Living (dressing, grooming, attending meals, etc.) is incorporated throughout the day in this 28 bed unit. Residents are more closely monitored for coming and going and participation of the residents in daily activities such as gardening, laundry and mealtimes in encouraged. Residents need to be ambulatory, continent and able to participate in their Activities of Daily Living for admission.
